ReD Lecture @ ESAD (Portugal)

Following an invitation by OutrosMercadus, ReD lectured at the Art and Design School (ESAD) in Matosinhos in the scope of the opening event of the "OutrosMercadus '06 Award" exhibition. Introduced by ESAD's director José Simões, the lectured started with ReD principals describing the studio's understanding about the impact of digital technologies in architecture, establishing some connections with the field of industrial/product design. This introduction was followed by short descriptions of some works in academia and in practice. However, the main part of the lecture was specifically dedicated to describe in detail the digital design processes behind the production of the MCity design project. Involving CAD/CAM technologies and computing programming, these processes where decisive tp generate and fabricate this project designed by ReD, which won the first edition of the OutrosMercadus Award. This work is featured at the "1st OutrosMercadus Award" exhibition, displayed at ESAD, until the 21st of December.

ReD Lecture @ "Road to Wonderland" (Portugal)

Organized by the Northen Section of the Portuguese Architects Association, "Road to Wonderland" consists on a series of lectures by young portuguese architectural studios. ReD presented its work in the 4th session, together with E-Studio, Pedro Campos Costa, Patrícia Barbas, André Eduardo Tavares. Commenting (in portuguese) on ReD's lecture, architectural critic Bruno Baldaia wrote:
